Ron and Mary Westfahl
Ron
and Mary’s friends Bobby and Linda Kramer tried to get them to try square
dancing for many, many years. Finally in January of 1999 with their
children grown and out of the house, they decided to give it a try and
thankfully made it through lessons and actually graduated. Now square dancing is
a large part of their lives. They have made many, many great friends and
always have a lot of fun. They have been officers of the club for numerous
years as vice presidents and now they serve as co-treasurers.
Ron
and Mary have been married for 38 wonderful years and have two awesome sons
which they are very proud. Cory is the father of their only grandchild and
the light of their lives, 8 year old Julia Rose. Their younger son is
Staff Sergeant Brandon Westfahl of the U. S. Marine Corps who is active duty and
getting ready to return to Afghanistan for his fourth overseas assignment.
They
live in a great 55 and over community called Bella Vita and really enjoy living
there and the many, many activities that come with it. Their other
interest involves gardening, walking their two beauties Bailey Boy and Bella
Star and they also enjoy a trip to the casino every now and then.
Gary and Julie Belcik
Gary started square dancing in January 1995 with the Strawberry Squares in Pasadena, Texas. He attended the Golden Triangle Caller College in May 1996 where Wayne Morvent was the instructor. Gary brings a rock-n-roll flavor to square dancing, influenced by his guitar playing in a high school rock band. He also enjoys and calls to country music. As he puts it, "There is room in square dancing for all types of music."
Gary has a wonderful wife, Julie, who has put up with him for thirty three years. They have two children: Matt, who graduated from Texas A&M in May of 2007, and Michael, who is a student there now.
Gary and Julie enjoy square dancing very much, mainly because of all the friendly people they have met. They hope to stay in this activity for many years to come.
